"The Cycle of Life"
Major pharmaceutical companies commissioned this research project and it used African theatre methods to help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS amongst the African population.
"Return of the Ancestors"
"Return of the Ancestors" was a research project that focused primarily on traditional African ritual theatre performance and its non-verbal means of communication. It explored the role of mask and masquerade, trance and possession in traditional African theatre performance. The project culminated in a public performance.
"Drug Attack!"
Drug Attack! used dance-drama to examine the effect of peer pressure, truancy, teenage pregnancy and drug abuse on young people. It also examined the importance of good citizenship and the need to uphold strong community relations.
"Anna"
Using African theatre methods to develop their performance skills, this devised work by young people at the Newham Summer School 2001 explored the issue of HIV and AIDS, their possible cause and prevention.
"The Phoenix and the Carpet"
IROKO was commissioned by the BBC to perform suitable music, movement and dance for the children's TV drama, "The Phoenix and the Carpet"
"Ori Inu - The Inner Head"
IROKO was commissioned by The October Gallery, Education Department to work with pupils at all Key Stages in schools around London. The Project used African theatre skills to investigate the Yoruba concept of 'Ori Inu', the Inner Head.
