Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some of the questions that we are often asked about our services.

How many people can IROKO perform to?

For school activities, we can perform to up to 300 people at any one time, but if there is a wider gap between the age ranges, it is strongly recommended that performances be conducted to cater for the age groups. Our cultural programme can accommodate a larger number of people but venue constraints, etc. will need to be taken into consideration.

How many people can take part in the workshops?

Depending on availability of space, we can accommodate a maximum of 40 pupils each in Music and Dance, 30 for Storytelling and 25 for Introduction to African Theatre. These workshops can run simultaneously.

Does IROKO provide musical instruments?

For music workshops, IROKO can provide musical instruments for up to 30 people and will need additional instruments if the number of participants is more than 30.

Space and Audio Visual Control requirements

Because of the interactive nature of our performances, the company prefers not to work on a stage. We require a minimum of four adult chairs within a space of 15' X 12'. All our instruments are traditional and do not require electricity. If necessary, AVC may be required for outdoor stage performances for larger audiences.

Costumes

IROKO performers use a range of costumes made out of colourful African fabrics and during residencies, costumes can be provided for a reasonable number of participants.

Fees

Our programmes are tailor-made for each individual occasion and as a result, the fees are dependent upon specific requirements.
